PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

We often have various opportunities within the lab. However, we also receive many more requests to join the lab than we could possibly accommodate. If you think our research aligns well with your interest and career goals, please indicate this in your application materials.

Undergraduate Students

  • If you are a current undergraduate student at ASU, you should talk to me about opportunities to work with one of my Ph.D. students. We are always looking for dedicated students to help design and program simulated environments for use in conducting human subjects research, and to search for and synthesize academic literature. We also occasionally need help collecting data, annotating, and analyzing human subjects data, for which you would receive basic training, but this depends on ongoing project schedules.
  • If you would like to be a FURI student in my lab, or for me to be a part of your honors thesis committee, you should review my research page to make sure your interests are a good fit with my areas of expertise before reaching out to me.

Graduate Students

  • The lab typically adds 1-2 Ph.D. students and 2-4 M.S. students each year.  Students come from around the world and have various educational backgrounds including Healthcare, Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, and Organizational Behavior.
  • Keep in mind that most students in the lab come with experience designing human subjects studies or working with human subjects data. If you do not have experience in these areas, there may be other contributions you can make.
  • I strongly recommend students who are interested in joining the lab to take one of my classes (HSE 424/525, 425/525, 531) first. This should help you gain a better understanding of my mentorship style and approach to research.
  • I am also open to working with: graduate students in other programs who may already have an advisor, but would benefit from having me on their committee; students who are interested in taking 1 or more research credits or independent study with me to work on publishing a paper together; and M.S. students who have an idea they would like to work on with me through the MORE program.
